ŠAlthea Hayton 2011

item3

Since the amazing day in 2002 when I realised that I am a womb twin survivor, I have been looking for the others. I began the Womb Twin project in 2003 by making a special web site. One by one, womb twin survivors came forward and told me their story. As a resut of their trust and honesty, I have learnt how to identify womb twin survivors and help them to heal.

I am a womb twin survivor. I had at least one twin (identical) that died in the second trimester (and maybe another fraternal, other gender twin). I am now realizing how much that event has influenced my life. I am ready to begin to use that influence in a positive way to achieve great things. There are so many things that I am beginning to understand. I am just beginning my healing path and learning how to gain strength from the loss of my twin. I am looking forward to continuing to learn about womb twins. MW, USA

The project began in 2003 with a web site and a simple questionnaire. It now consists of:

1. This comphensive web site, connected to social networks.

2. The Womb Twin research questionnaire [see here]

The questionnaire was revised six times in four years to include the ideas that were coming forward on the stories that womb twin survivors sent to the site from all over the world. The final and current version was uploaded in February 2007. By December 2011, a thousand questioannaires had been collected and they are still coming in. The first 500 questionnaires were analysed by the Statistics Department of the University of Hertfordshire in 2009 : these results were used to create "Womb Twin Survivors" a comprehensive review of the Womb Twin research project, published in March 2011. [see here]

3. The Womb Twin food questionnaire

A new initiative to gather information about the way that womb twin survivors relate to their food. If you have any kind of issue with food, or even if you dont, you will find something there for you, and you can share your story if you wish. [Visit questionnaire page]

4. Literature and web search

This continues as knowledge of the "vanishing" twin expands. Some useful sites have been linked to this site and can be explored [here]
