This is Lucy's story. She is four years old and her new baby brother Tom, whom she has never seen, dies, aged just one day. This book is intended primarily for adults to read by themselves or with a child. Some important questions are posed for consideration: should Lucy see and hold the baby? Should she attend the funeral?

Lucy's mother and father realise that Lucy has been hoping for a new baby brother or sister for many months, and the fact that a baby has been born cannot be concealed from her. In a gentle, loving and fearless way, they allow Lucy to be involved.

The line drawings are readily understandable for young children, but are honest enough not to patronise adults. They are the first published work by John Farrell.

Recommended to families and professionals after stillbirth or neonatal death where there are other young children in the family.
