A lavishly illustrated biography of Edmund Ramsay Wigan (1902-1970) written and edited by his three children. He lived in Wendover, Bucks as a child and was educated at Monckton Coombe School, Bath. He worked in acoustic engineering for the SRDE in the war and later for the BBC Research Department.
He was a very creative man, with many patented inventions to his credit. He was a prolific writer, poet and artist and a much-loved father.
This lovingly crafted and detailed book provides a unique insight into the character of a true Edwardian gentleman. His account of his own life provides a fascinating insight into middle-class life in Buckinghamshire in the early twentieth century.
The family memories are honest and often poignant; over sixty of his pictures are included as well as his poetry, both serious and humorous. The descriptions of his inventions and publications provide a remarkable insight into the mind of a truly creative scientist, who never missed an opportunity to wonder at, celebrate and learn about the way things work.
