In September 2005 I made a 400 mile walking pilgrimage in Northern Spain, from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela. I took my Sony Minidisk recorder and a lapel microphone, with the idea of making a recording of the spiritual journey - at least the one that was happening to me.
Despite many struggles and mishaps along the way, I did just manage to make 30 recordings, which are now available as a set of three audio CDs. Included in the CD set is a booklet with some additional material.
Every stage consists of a meditation, reflecting on what happened that day, a short story to illustrate the theme for the day and a prayer to sum it all up. The best way to enjoy these meditations is to listen to one every day or so. They are ideal for an i-pod or in the car, or just quietly listening at home.
A pilgrimage at home is a journey you make in your mind and heart, without walking anywhere. If you have ever made a real pilgrimage or a long walk, you can draw upon this experience to create your inner journey. If you know you could never manage to make the walk to Santiago, the “Walk with me” series and workbook will enable you to share in the spiritual transformation that can take place on any pilgrimage.
If you have already made the pilgrimage to Santiago, with the help of these meditations you will be able to draw upon your memories and take another look at your experience in the light of the inner journey as it happens to you.
